2020 Daviess County Right To Life Banquet

Senator Mike Braun gave the keynote address at the 2020 banquet.

Senator Braun talked about the work that lay ahead for the U.S. Senate in the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett. The Senator did not mingle with the crowd and when he arrived was carefully guarded by security. The Senator apologized for not being able to meet with individuals but said that due to health concerns, all senators are being extremely careful at the present time, in view of the important vote coming up in the U.S. Senate in the next week or so. In spite of COVID-19 concerns, a large crowd was in attendance. All attendees wore masks and were following the guidelines set down by the Health Department. This was the 44th year for the Right to Life Banquet.

Colin Craig, a former student at Pike Central High School and a Freshman at Western Kentucky University, presented the essay he wrote that won the Donna Gentry Scholarship.

2020 Adoptive Child

Clinton and Bridget Lawyer Family Honored at Right to Life Banquet

The 2020 adoptive family were Clinton and Bridget Lawyer, who adopted four children in 2016. Bridget Lawyer spoke about how the couple had always wanted to adopt children after having children of their own. During their service in the foster parent program, they received these four children in placement in 2014. Bridget said, “We still have a few rough patches, but they just fit right into our family. God has worked in each of us and if we had not followed his lead we would have missed out on so many blessings! As excited as we are that they are part of our family, I do have to say this was not God’s first choice for these kids. His first choice was a loving home with their biological parents. I know their mother loved them and we are so glad she chose to have them as opposed to having an abortion.”
