Sheila Harper Main Speaker for 2017 Right to Life Banquet

Sheila Harper who is President of SaveOne Organization gave a call to action to those present to take action against abortion. Harper who had an abortion thirty two years ago said that it was one of the worse mistakes she has made in her life. Her Organization now helps women to recover from the trauma of abortion.

Mike Fichter the President of Indiana RTL gave an update on the legislative progress made in 2017 on the abortion issue.

Joe Sponn of Washington received Pro-Life Award and Roger and Adriane Callahan Family of Odon was selected as the Adoptive Family for this year. The Annual event drew nearly 500 people from the Daviess, Martin and Pike counties area.

Roger and Adriana Callahan Honored as Adoptive Family

Pictured above are Roger Callahan (left), holding his adopted son Hezekiah, and Adriana (right) just prior to the Right to the Right to Life Banquet held this past Thursday night at the Simon J. Graber Building near Odon. The Callahans were selected at the Adoptive Family of the year by the Daviess, Martin and Pike County Right to Life Groups.

The Callahan spoke of how the Adoption came about and how their views on this life issue has evolved. Joe Sponn Receives Special Award

Pictured above is Louis Kavanaugh Jr. (left) President of Daviess Co. Right to Life presenting this year’s Special Award to Joe Sponn of Washington as Joe’s wife Karen looks on. Joe was injured in an accident when he was thirty two years old and it meant a big change in his life. Joe started a business of trophies/plaques and has been prominent in the community. But Joe has been very generous by donating his trophies/plaques to charitable organizations and offering his services in any way he could help out these organizations. With the presentation Kavanaugh pointed out that Joe was always seen with a happy face and very upbeat and many like us could not have handled the situation like Joe. Joe’s Wife Karen was also recognized for being by his side through good and bad for 57 years of marriage. This presentation was made at the Right to Life Banquet on Thursday Oct. 7 at the Simon J. Graber Building. A large crowd of 500 attended the special event as this is the 41st year for the event for Daviess, Martin and Pike County Right to Life Members.
